Oregano

Another antioxidant powerhouse loaded with phenols. Rosmarinic acid has demonstrated antimicrobial activity against food-borne pathogens, and can be used topically as an herbal antiseptic.

The herb is used to treat respiratory tract disorders, gastrointestinal (GI) disorders, menstrual cramps, and urinary tract disorders. It contains the compound carvacrol which was found to reduce heart rate, mean arterial pressure as well as the systolic and diastolic blood pressures.

The herb is also applied topically to help treat a number of skin conditions, such as acne and dandruff.

Dried oregano and especially essential oil of oregano are extremely volatile and anti-parasitic. Use two to three drops of oregano oil in water with fresh squeezed lemon and drink this three times a day.

Cloves are among the top three spices in antioxidant concentration.

Clove contains significant amounts of an active component called eugenol, which has made it the subject of numerous health studies, including studies on the prevention of toxicity from environmental pollutants like carbon tetrachloride, digestive tract cancers, and joint inflammation.

Cloves are also used for tooth pain.
